Resilience Under Pressure: Mastering the Mind–Money Connection

Overview:

In recruitment, performance isn’t just driven by skill or activity, it’s driven by how you think and feel in high-pressure moments.

This session explores the Mind–Money Connection. How your beliefs shape your emotional responses, and how those emotional patterns directly influence your actions, consistency, and billing outcomes.

Using a simple but powerful framework, you’ll understand why two recruiters can face the same rejection, setback, or opportunity and respond in completely different ways; and what separates those who maintain momentum from those who fall into peaks and troughs.

We’ll break down how your brain is wired to focus on the negative, how that impacts confidence and decision-making, and how to reframe setbacks into useful performance data rather than emotional barriers.

As you learn how to cultivate mental fortitude and resilience, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to:

  • Respond more constructively to rejection and pressure
  • Maintain confidence and momentum during challenging periods
  • Hijack your emotions to drive consistent, high-level performance

The live delivery of this webinar will be on Thursday 16 July at 11:00am - 12:00pm AEDT // 1:00pm - 2:00pm NZDT.

This webinar is included in the RCSA Digital Pass.

Learning Objectives:

Participants of this webinar will be able to:
  • Understand the Mind–Money Connection

Recognise how beliefs and emotions directly influence actions, consistency, and billing performance.

  • Apply the BEAR Framework (Beliefs → Emotions)

Identify how underlying beliefs shape emotional responses to rejection, pressure, and uncertainty.

  • Recognise and Manage Negativity Bias

Understand why the brain overweights negative outcomes (e.g. lost deals) and how to rebalance focus.

  • Reframe Setbacks into Performance Data

Shift from a “win vs fail” mindset to a “win vs learn” approach, using challenges to improve future performance.

  • Reduce Unhelpful Thinking Patterns

Identify the Three P’s of Pessimism and minimise their impact.

  • Use Optimism as a Performance Tool
Apply the Three O’s of Optimism to maintain perspective, confidence, and momentum.

Meet the facilitator: Paul McCormack

Before training with one of the world's leading coaches and becoming a certified Executive Performance Coach and Positive Psychology specialist, Paul spent the majority of his corporate career in middle management roles in the finance, recruitment, and legal industries across London and Sydney.

In 2020, a break from alcohol sparked a deeper personal development journey. What began as a short experiment became a catalyst for sustained change, leading to three successive promotions, the creation of two online businesses, and the strongest physical and mental health of his life.

Today, Paul works with professionals who want to operate at their best, sustainably. His work focuses on gaining clarity around what matters, aligning values with actions, and optimising mindset, habits, and energy so success feels purposeful rather than forced.
